Pieter Pietersz Barbiers

Dutch painter and draughtsman

Pieter Pietersz Barbiers descended from an artists' family, which originally came from Flanders. His father was Pieter Barbiers (1717-1780), who run a studio for fans in Amsterdam. Pieter Barbiers Pzn was trained as a good landscape painter, but also made many paintings with interior decorations. He made numerous hand drawings, beside landscapes he also created excellent drawings with animals, many of them can be seen in the Amsterdam Cabinet. In 1822 he became member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam.
