Pieter Bout
1658 – Brussels – 1719

Painter, draughtsman and etcher

Nothing is known about the training of the landscape painter and etcher Pieter Bout. In 1671 he became a member of the painter's guild in Brussels, from about 1675 he lived and worked for a few years in Paris, maybe he also lived in Italy.

He closely worked together with other artist, e.g. with A.F. Boudewijns (1644-1712), for him he made the figurative staffage in his paintings. He also worked together with J. d'Artois (1613-1686) and others. Signed works of art created by Pieter Bout are owned by museums in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Augsburg, Frankfurt on Main, Oldenburg, Pommersfelden, Prague, Rotterdam and Vienna.
