Johannes van Bronkhorst
1648 Leiden – Hoorn 1727

Dutch painter and draughtsman

Johannes van Bronkhorst was son and pupil of P.A. van Bronkhorst (1558-1661). After his father had died he became a pâté baker in Haarlem, but he continued his training as a draughtsman autodidactically.

After he had moved to Hoorn in 1670 he started also to work as a painter. He specialized in watercolour paintings of birds, insects and plants painted on paper or vellum.
