Abraham Genoels II.
1640 – Antwerp – 1723

Painter, draughtsman and etcher

From 1662 till 1672 Genoels lived and worked in Paris, in 1674 he travelled up the Rhine to Italy where he worked in Rome until 1682. Here he met G. A. van Wittel (1653-1736) with whom he got friends.

He made many pen-and-ink drawings with grey and brown ink wash. A characteristic for his drawings, also for our one, is the freehanded depction of the leafwork.
