Rudolf Karl Alexander „Sascha“ Schneider

German painter, draughtsman, illustrator and sculptor

Sascha Schneider, son of a publisher and printer, grew up in Saint Petersburg and Zurich. After his father had died, his family moved to Dresden, where he studied at the academy of arts from 1889. In 1904 he was appointed professor of the academy of arts in Weimar.

Schneider is mainly known for the illustrations he made for the adventure novels of the popular German writer Karl May, published by Friedrich Ernst Fehsenfeld in Freiburg.
