Robert Hermann Sterl

German painter, draughtsman and illustrator

From 1882 to 1889 Sterl studied at the academy of arts in Dresden. In the following three years he worked as an illustrator and portraitist in Dresden. He was mainly influenced by Adolph Menzel (1805–1905), Max Liebermann (1847–1935) and Jean-Francois Millet (1814–1875).
