Vanitas Vanitatum et omnia vanitas.

Copper engraving by Johannes Schmidt (copper engraver, worked in Augsburg 2nd half of the 17th century), on handmade paper with watermark: crowned double-headed eagle. 26,7:18,8 cm.

Very good and clear impression, with ca. 1 cm wide margins. At lower right corner a tiny bit loss of paper, small tear, and errased brown pen-and-ink letters. Handwritten page number „187“ at lower right.

With the artists' names, a number „2“ and 8 lines of engraved text in two columns under the picture.

Literature: Hollstein 7, I (of II); compare Hollstein 21 (W. v. Swaneburg; Vanitas image after Bloemaert with the same Latin text and number as in Schmidt's work).

Very rare!
